BREATH MYTH: AMY FELDMAN’S PERFORMATIVE PAINTINGS

BREATH MYTH: AMY FELDMAN’S PERFORMATIVE PAINTINGS

Explore the relationship between figure and space in a new exhibition launching at Blain Southern this Friday. “Breath Myth“, Amy Feldman‘s first solo show in Germany, showcases a series of the Brooklyn-based artist’s geometric, cloud-like, figures, which she paints on bare canvas in a single performative motion. Exclusively created in shades of grey, the artist’s pared-back works are liberated from color associations, allowing them to leave a lasting impression through their ambiguity and dark tonality. Feldman demonstrates how an image evolves based on its surroundings, at once expressing something casual and urgent. (Text: Victoria Pease / Photo credit: Blain Southern / Winnie Au)
