Beautiful children’s items are hard to find and quite pricey, not the best match for young families — but Mookij stays ahead of the game by carrying off-season collections from hip labels such as Mini Rodini, Bang Bang Copenhagen and Popupshop (great basics made from organic qualities). Besides children’s clothing, there are fine selections of books and toys and well; owner Katharina chooses what kids and adults equally love – not too cute but edgy — like the amazing books from Pictoplasma. The interior design of the store is simple and ingenious: hangers are attached to the nylon knurls that hang down from the ceiling with wooden balls which add a sculptural and playful touch. The store is open only four days a week now but this is about to change, as Mookij becomes a staple in Mitte’s shopping district.
