Have you ever tripped while walking on the beach in Brittany and gotten your mouth covered with sand? It tastes different to the grains from here. Salt and water – add buckwheat flour to them and you get the basis for the Breton pancakes. Bastien Le Cozzannet had a dream for Berlin: his “galettes” to taste just like the ones from his childhood; and so the story began. In spring 2012 he opened his crêperie in Zionskirchplatz. The buckwheat “Blé Noir” comes from a Breton mill, where it is traditionally produced since 1871, and the fillings… oh là là! French goat cheese, thyme, honey – from the church next door – ham, Raclette cheese and potatoes. All variations are hearty, delicious and colorful, but will still leave room for some cider and a sweet crêpe with caramelized apples and vanilla ice cream for dessert. Sun? Outdoor seating? But of course – for breakfast on the weekends, as the walls of the church glitters in the sunlight. Oui oui, I love it! (Photos :Carlito Schilirò)
