FUTURE NOWS: THE “INSTITUT FÜR RAUMEXPERIMENTE” SAYS BYE-BYE

FUTURE NOWS: THE “INSTITUT FÜR RAUMEXPERIMENTE” SAYS BYE-BYE

“Art does not only exist in reality, it creates reality” said Ólafur Elíasson, about the Institut für Raumexperimente. During his professorship at the University of the Arts, he had developed a research project together with students, fellows and guests. As he ends his tenure, the Festival of Future Nows starts by entering dialogue with the current exhibition “Sticks and Stones” at Neue Nationalgalerie. Part of the program are performances, installations and readings by over 100 artists. Julian Charrière attempts to merge time and space; Julius von Bismarck lets a tree stump fabricate history; Nico Dockx and Clara Meister give away poems; Rodrigo Maltez Novaes and Jamie Allen send Vilém Flusser’s essay “Meadows” in the form of sound installation through the hall; and at night, Malte Bartsch transforms the building into a slot machine that you may actually play with. Revenue will be donated towards the renovation of the museum. (Text: Laura Storfner / Photos: David von Becker)
