JOY C. MITCHELL RECOMMENDS: BIERLIEB

JOY C. MITCHELL RECOMMENDS: BIERLIEB

If you love craft beer, you’ll love Bierlieb. Situated on Petersburgers street in Friedrichshain, the well-designed rustic, yet cozy shop is the getränkemarkt equivalent to a hole in the wall. But what a wonderful hole in the wall it is. Bierlieb boasts beers from several countries, including Germany, Belgium, the US and UK. The styles are organized based on the Periodic Table of Beers, and even the ever-elusive IPA can be found here. If you’re only into German beers, fret not. There are also bottles from Berlin-based micro-breweries and special editions from traditional German brands. Opened in fall 2014, Bierlieb also has weekly beer tastings, brew classes, and sells home brewing supplies, satisfying any true beer lover. (Text: Joy C. Mitchell / Photo: Lauren Schmid)
