IMMERSIVE ART — DOMINIQUE GONZALEZ-FOERSTER MEETS BLESS

The myriad ways in which clothes inspire moods and attitudes, transforming from canvas into costume, is the focus of an ongoing exhibition at Schinkel Pavilion. The costumes on display were created by French artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, and have been staged by design studio Manuel Raeder. Referred to as “apparitions” of characters from the past and present, they represent fragments of famous figures, such as Scarlett O’Hara, Bob Dylan, and Edgar Allan Poe. To complement the exhibition, fashion and home design brand Bless have set up a “wearaways” wardrobe, in which visitors can try on costumes inspired by the artist’s characters. On Sunday 20 November, alongside trying on wearaways, visitors can have their hair and makeup done to fully transform into an “apparition”. (Text: Victoria Pease / Photo: Studio Manuel Raeder)
