Luckily for me, I don’t live close to Steinstrasse – otherwise I’d be tempted everyday to walk into Le Coup, my new favorite shoe store in town. It’s led by Conny Stachowiak, the very friendly and well-informed owner. A taxidermy peacock and a wicker chair along with glass and mirror tables welcome you in the front room, and you’ll find eccentric and extravagant shoes such as platforms by Minimarket or cubic sandals by Surface To Air. But there are nice flats and ankle boots as well, suitable for walking on Berlin’s wobbly sidewalks for more casual days. I’m not a shoe addict, but this place might turn me into one!
