LUIBAN — AN EXCELLENT STORE FOR FINE PAPER & STATIONARY

LUIBAN — AN EXCELLENT STORE FOR FINE PAPER & STATIONARY

For all fans of traditional letterpress printing, Japanese masking tapes, or beautiful notebooks: Luiban is your paradise. Originally started as an online shop in 2009, they launched their physical shop in Berlin four years later. Stocking cherry-picked goods from all over the world, owners Michael Ruben Bandt and Kai-Stefan Luithardt have great knowledge of their items and are happy to share the stories; the wooden bookmarks are made from Bavarian walnut wood, the lovely paper boxes are made by people who are blind in Kreuzberg, the inks by a Swiss brand Abraxas are still mixed by hand, the custom-made Japanese copper adhesive tape is really made from copper, and the little bird on the postcard was printed on letterpress in four colorways with additional hand-coloring on top. If you happen to see Hiroto in the store, I hear that he’s a calligraphy artist and wrapping genius – how handy during the Christmas season; you’ll not only find amazing wrapping paper, cards, and the gifts themselves here but someone to wrap them beautifully for you, too.
