Gentlemen, time for a trim? The Nomad Barber not only offers professional grooming services – plus Five Elephant coffee and Quartiermeister beer – but is also backed by an incredible story. In 2013, founder Miguel Gutierrez, aka “The Nomad Barber” himself, embarked on a year-long pilgrimage to discover the global history of male grooming. Travelling from Greece through Turkey and into the Middle East, Gutierrez set up his barber stool to offer locals cuts wherever he went, documenting his adventures in a web series. After establishing his first permanent location in London in 2014, his second permanent outpost landed in Graefekiez in late 2016. Haircut appointments are booked in 45-minute slots, allowing ample time for a complimentary wash, hot towel treatment, neck massage and – best of all – a “hot lather neck shave”. This makes The Nomad Barber feel more like day spa than a hairdresser – a place that transforms a regular necessity into a rejuvenating experience. (Text: Jónbjörn Finnbogason)
