TONIGHT: CONCIERGE COFFEE OPENS ITS OWN ROASTERY

TONIGHT: CONCIERGE COFFEE OPENS ITS OWN ROASTERY

This tiny caffeine hub, already a Cee Cee favorite (see newsletter #144), is now finally expanding out into the adjoining seating space of Zola pizzeria in order to open its very own roastery. The wooden shelves stacked high with sacks of coffee beans and the understated but sleekly polished machinery illustrate the dedication that the owners Namy Nosratifard and Benjamin Pates have to coffee. They are committed to the precision and patience involved in finding the perfectly mixed blend for their Concierge espresso, preferring a more artisanal approach in order to try and balance a well rounded, sweet, and fruity flavor. Currently, they are roasting twice a week, and supplying their own store, yet the idea is also to allow customer interaction with the process. Most of the time the roasting happens far from the counter where the flat whites are sold, and so by seeing the creation of the espresso blend from scratch, the business of coffee becomes much more communal; this combined with the possibility of future workshops and collaborations with other cafes and coffee vendors. The launch party will be held tonight (19.11.2015), completed by free pizza from the Zola ovens, and a live art performance. (Text: Antonia Harris / Photo: Daniel Farò)
