I’ve had my share of fun at dive bars that serve hangover-guaranteed drinks. Nowadays, I tend to enjoy quality bars that serve great drinks and food. Yes, food – something that most Berlin bars seem to be missing. Drinking makes me peckish, so savory treats are always welcome. I knew that Pauly Bar housed some of the best bartenders in town: Bobbi and Justin, who will shake that shaker until their arms go numb to create the perfect foamy drink for you. However, the bar has recently given their food menu a makeover, including some mouth-watering plates like homemade cold cuts and wagyu entrecôte with potato puree, all coming from the same kitchen as Pauly Saal’s dishes. My personal favorite is the deep fried whole cauliflower, cooked sous-vide. The food perfectly accompanies their beautifully presented and next-level cocktails. Try their sake, Williams pear, homemade Bergamot syrup and lime concoction called “Lost in Translation” – refreshing and perfect.
