DON’T MISS THIS POP-UP: ROCKET & BASIL’S PERSIAN VEGGIE FEAST

In July 2017, we attended the first Rocket & Basil Persian Feast where sisters Sophie and Xenia von Oswald (previously of the wildly popular Das Brunch) presented delicious Persian plates that spoke of summer in the plant-filled surrounds at Infarm. The glorious evening started with a spread of shared dishes: smoky fennel salad with preserved lemon dressing, warm charred eggplant and peppers sprinkled with fried parsley, and, my personal favorite, an egg-based Iranian dish called kuku that was studded with summer vegetables and fresh herbs. There’s no better way to break the ice than to share food with strangers, and the communal evening was one of the most fun we had all summer. Jealous? Don’t be! You can attend their next Persian feast this Sunday (19.11.17) at the former GDR dance hall at Treptower Park, Salon Blechschmidt. All dishes this time around will be vegetarian, and the menu is mouthwatering with Persian spiced hot toddys, brassicas with slow cooked tomato and dill sauce, savoy cabbage saffron tahdig (Persian scorched rice with a crispy brown shell that is to die for) and much more. Get a ticket before it sells out (the Saturday night seating already did!) and experience Rocket & Basil’s fantastic feast for yourself.
