USLAR & RAI — COZY UP WITH A GOOD BOOK

I discovered the bookshop Uslar & Rai rather unexpectedly, but felt drawn in immediately. Opened up in 2012 by a trio of fellow book enthusiasts, the shop offers a colorful and exciting selection of novels, stories, poetry, cookbooks, travel books, classics, and curiosities in both German and English – basically anything a literary heart desires. The rather large shop still manages to feel cozy, a place you could stay for a while getting lost in the world of words. In addition to an hour or so of browsing, I can highly recommend the social events that take place after closing time. From typical book presentations and readings to their legendary debutante ball taking place every November, check their Facebook for more information on upcoming events. There’s no better weather to pick up a fresh new text (for you, or someone else) and transport yourself into another world. (Text: Milena Kalojanov / Photos: Andreas Licht)
