Berlin is bustling. There are sound machines in Oberschöneweide, urban utopias in Mitte, happiness in Kreuzberg, a festival scattered across Moabit, and Sunday flowers to take home. Here are CC’s eclectic calendar tips. Deep in the green Wuhlheide, inside the former GDR Pioneer Palace, the week kicks off with a surge of energy. Today (07.–09.05.2026), Superbooth opens at FEZ. More than 300 exhibitors from over thirty countries present synthesizers, pro audio, software and prototypes, alongside a packed program of concerts, workshops and masterclasses. Many of the devices are introduced by their developers, and explored (and tested) by curious visitors. Between Wedding and Moabit, a lot is happening at once this weekend. The Mowe Festival (08.–10.05.) spans 47 locations with exhibitions, performances, walks and interventions appearing wherever you happen to pass by. Under this year’s theme, “Icons”, personal stories intertwine with larger questions. It all kicks off at Cittipoint. The African Food Festival Berlin celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, marked with a three-day Spring Market (08.–10.05.) at Jules B-Part. Between jollof rice, suya and sweet puff-puff, it’s easy to while away an afternoon. On Saturday, head straight to the afterparty, Midnight Bites at Ayoka Bar, with Beautyinblack and DJ Loft on the decks. Raffle Arts brings a touch of luck our way. On Friday (08.05.), they open the exhibition Lucky Charms. At Bushy Pony, thirteen artists, including Ja Lissitzky and Cosima Kaibel, come together to reflect on everyday moments: fleeting encounters, personal rituals, or familiar settings that hold a sense of happiness. While the art world constantly reinvents itself, there are also structures you can rely on.
On Saturday (09.05.), the symposium Misogyny at n.b.k. addresses antifeminist dynamics in the context of art — triggered by a new issue of Texte zur Kunst, which connects to earlier debates on gender and power. At its core is the question of the forms misogyny takes in contemporary discourse, and how it can be responded to. With contributions by Julieta Aranda and Catherine McCormack, among others, a polyphonic conversation emerges on representation and the body. Free admission, no registration required, in English. On Saturday (09.05.), head to Haus der Statistik. The former administrative complex at Alexanderplatz is being developed into a mixed-use quarter with space for housing, work, culture and social projects. At the KO-Markt, the program includes a panel discussion on the future of the site, workshops, concerts, guided tours through the complex and a book presentation. On Sunday (10.05.), at Silent Green, the Paper Cuts workshop by Elenia Beretta at Pictoplasma invites visitors to cut, glue and draw. Quietly work your way through colored paper and craft materials, while a large collaborative piece grows on the wall — everyone can contribute a fragment. Drop in anytime, stay briefly, or get fully absorbed in drawing. Lobby 030 in Neukölln hosts a pop-up by Sakana on Sunday (10.05.). Behind it is Japanese chef Shinya, also a fisherman, exploring how fish can be presented outside of conventional kitchen contexts. The Izakaya-inspired menu includes oysters, yellowtail carpaccio with yuzu pepper sauce, and shrimp wontons. Reservations are recommended. For quick floral joy, a walk along the Maybachufer is ideal, with a stop at the Mother’s Day Flower pop-up by KN Floral. From Friday to Sunday (08.–10.05.), either assemble your own bouquet or pick up a ready-made one. Cash only. Fresh flowers are followed by fresh fruit ice cream. Next Thursday (14.05.), another pop-up opens. Serve x Gardine offers coffee, natural wine, and Serve‘s New Zealand-style ice cream made from real fruit. Alongside blueberry and strawberry, mango is new to the menu. Make your way through the city.
