FOR THE LOVE OF LETTERS: PRINTED MATTER FROM DRUCKEREY

Martin Z. Schröder has always had a weakness for letters. He started his apprenticeship as a printer at age 16 and finally founded his own print shop in 1994. He’s one of the few printers in Germany who still uses letterpress printing. It all started with his first printing machine, the “Boston Tiegel”, a manual printing machine from 1856. He offers a variety of fonts, 70 in total, that are placed into a printing press such as the “Original Heidelberger Tiegel” from 1900. This is how business cards, weddings invitations or birth announcements come to life here. Through the manual process, each product has its individual mark; and it is these irregularities that make each print unique and set it apart from any other ordinary printed matter.
