Enjoy, but make it quick! It’s September, and everything that was still in its summer slumber just moments ago is suddenly being kissed awake. We’re talking flash tattoos, Italian greetings, community runs, hasty sketches, and first projections. Here are CC’s Calendar Tips.
Today (17.09.), Indonesian chef and food creative Sonia Harvi takes over the kitchen at Boii Boii on Lausitzer Straße. Shaped by stints in Malaysia, Dubai, Denmark and Germany, she brings her own take on Southeast Asian cuisine, spilling out into Asinan Leci with chili vinaigrette, fish and mussels in cassava leaf curry, or black tea ice cream with lime jelly. From Boii Boii to Ciao Ciao! At the Kreuzberg cocktail bar that’s always up for a rave, glasses will be clinking on Friday (18.09.). For the Grand Opening, a triple lineup of sound has been booked: Kira Krempova, Gebrüder Teichmann and Jackbox take over the decks. Come say hello!
Find Yours and Studio Joanne are teaming up this weekend (18.–19.09.) for a pop-up bringing out all the beloved favorites. There will be jewelry and curated secondhand, plus music and drinks. Finding and making are also the theme on Saturday (19.09.) in Moabit, this time with art, ceramics and other small treasures to discover. The first Makers Market Moabit brings together creative exhibitors from Berlin and beyond at the Arminiusmarkthalle. Among those taking part are Jeren Jewelry, Schblonko and Pralinsche Manufaktur.
If you’d rather trace beautiful things back to their origins, this tip is for you: on Saturday (19.09.), Margarete’s Garden is working with clay and also with matcha. At Matcha & Clay in Nature, Atelier Kyō brings a matcha workshop and Clay Stories a nature-inspired ceramics session out into the greenery. Also outdoors, also stripped right back to basics: on Sunday (20.09.) meet up for a drawing session in Treptower Park. At the third Kritzeltreffen hosted by Nele Frenz and Lea Hilmer, anything goes — drawing, painting, crocheting, writing, or simply picking up an ongoing project. There will also be a small creative picnic, so bring your favorite blanket, a few snacks, and some of your own materials. The exact meeting point will be announced soon.
Fancy logging a few more kilometers after the ballot box? The next Community Run sets off from Alte Münze (20.09.). At Contemp Movement, each running route is inspired by a piece of contemporary artwork — which one this time is yet to be announced. All paces are welcome, with Claud leading the pack. And then there’s Sunday evening. At Anígo, people will gather on Sunday (20.09.) to watch the Berlin election results. The solidarity-driven event space ensures no one needs to spend the evening alone with their thoughts. The invitation is particularly warm for those who’ve experienced discrimination and are watching the results and the years ahead with concern. Feel free to bring something for the small buffet.
