CODESS — A POST-PANDEMIC WORLD EXPLORED THROUGH 4D SOUND, VR AND PERFORMANCE ART

CODESS — A POST-PANDEMIC WORLD EXPLORED THROUGH 4D SOUND, VR AND PERFORMANCE ART

The latest project by UY StudioCodess marks the Berlin fashion label’s eight year anniversary. The immersive dance performance seamlessly combines fashion, music, movement art and light in the industrial surroundings of Halle am Berghain. What awaits you this Friday and Saturday is a real spectacle: accompanied by a multi-speaker 4DSOUND system, the immersive installation features a robot encircled by 12 dancers. The resulting scene is one of blending and fusing through prayer-like, ritualistic movement. As the robot rotates in a circular motion and performers work hand-in-hand, they melt into each other – a reflection of society and its growing entanglement with technology. Why 12 dancers? In ancient and mythological symbolism, the number 12 stands for perfection, wholeness, and cosmic order. The movement for Codess is choreographed by Candela Capitán, whose work explores the activation and deactivation of social ties, positioning the body in relation to objects, other people and collective imagery. The 4DSOUND system features 60 speakers, with sound design coming from Dasha Rush to guide visitors through a reflective journey in one of the city’s most iconic venues.
