COFFEE PROFILERS: FINDING YOUR PERSONAL BEAN IDENTITY

COFFEE PROFILERS: FINDING YOUR PERSONAL BEAN IDENTITY

This café popped up in June 2015 and already has the outdoor seats filled and regulars calling the owners by name. The simple Scandinavian interior emphasizes the big bright windows looking over this grand boulevard — the one-and-only Karl-Marx-Allee — making it the perfect place to start the day with a cup of third wave coffee prepared by their champion barista Stefanos, or to relax with an iced coffee in the evening sun after a long and hectic day. Stefanos and his brother Yiannis, as well as the trainee barista Stavros, all hail from Greece, while co-owner Nora is from the Czech Republic. The beans are sourced from small growers around the world, roasted by their own company Taf, and sold in store. A menu that changes every week indicates the kind of care that this enthusiastic team takes in their work, a feeling that’s furthered by their obvious passion for providing extraordinary coffee to every customer. Whether you’re a picky connoisseur or having your very first cappuccino, you will be able to sharpen your personal coffee profile here. (Text: Isabelle Kagelius / Photo: Paul Kaminski)
