FOOD ART WEEK 2019: INSTALLATIONS AND EVENTS EXPLORING OUR UNQUENCHABLE DEMAND FOR WATER

FOOD ART WEEK 2019: INSTALLATIONS AND EVENTS EXPLORING OUR UNQUENCHABLE DEMAND FOR WATER

We all know what our lifestyles are doing to the planet, but how can we get inspired to change our behavior? Artist Tainá Guedes has made it her mission to show you with the Food Art Week festival, which for 2019 explores the subject of water and the environment through almost every medium imaginable: image, video, performance, speech – and yes, food. But the centrepiece of the festival is physical: four greenhouses that occupy Steinplatz in Charlottenburg. These mini exhibition rooms will host a month-long installation and event series, the highlight of which is bound to be the Water Summer Party, where you can immerse yourself in the topic of water conservation through workshops, expert-led panel discussions and music. Running in parallel is the Water(proof) exhibition at Momentum, which includes Janet Laurence’s “H2O: Water Bar”, an interactive display of flasks containing water taken from sources across Germany. The very water we need to protect can be sampled in its delicate natural state – what better motivation to change your way with water.
