FRUIT FORAGING IN BRANDENBURG — THE STRAWBERRY FIELDS AT POMONA GARTENBAU

FRUIT FORAGING IN BRANDENBURG — THE STRAWBERRY FIELDS AT POMONA GARTENBAU

A scenic bike ride or car drive through sweeping wheat and corn fields leading to a picturesque strawberry farm. Sounds like a perfect summer’s day, right? Just 40 minutes from Mitte, Pomona Gartenbau in Elisenau lets you make all your strawberry picking dreams come true. Whether you choose to bring your own container or buy a basket on site, you can wander through this expansive berry farm and fill up to your heart’s content (and, yes, you can eat a few on the go too). You can take as much time as you want: the fields are huge and offer a relaxed, fun environment for exploring and gathering your berries. If you are new to fruit picking, don’t worry: the farm runs a harvest hotline (03338 757133) letting you check which berries are currently ripe. In June and July the fields are home to ripe strawberries, but you can also harvest cherries, currants, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, plums as well as apples and pears later in the season. Check out the website to see when the different fruits are ready for picking. Whichever berries you go for, once you’ve got your haul it’s time for the best part: the eating!
