BYE BYE MITTE — THE WRECKING PARTY AT POSTFUHRAMT

“All palaces are temporary palaces” states the melancholy light sculpture by Robert Montgomery as a final salute, installed on the rooftop of C/O Berlin Berlin on Oranienburger Strasse. Until 1995 the building was in daily use as a post office and then was turned into a space for arts and culture for the past 15 years. Sadly, the party is over and there’s no way back; the gallery will leave Mitte for a new place at the Amerika-Haus at Hardenbergstraße. Starting next week, the space will no longer be open to the public. The new owner, a secret investor of “international stature” has already brought his heavy construction machinery. C/O Berlin will offer you the last chance to enjoy the charm of this unique architecture during their goodbye party this weekend. (Text: Milena Kalojanov / photos: C/O Berlin)
