DINER VIBES, WINE GARDEN SPECIALS & LINGERING FOG — CC’S WEEKEND TIPS

DINER VIBES, WINE GARDEN SPECIALS & LINGERING FOG — CC’S WEEKEND TIPS

We’ve survived the first days of October, and now it’s time for the first (long) weekend of the month. It’s kicking off just as packed as the last, from new culinary hotspots and pop-ups to art and wine in the garden. Tonight (02.10.2025), Goldies Bar opens on the sixth floor of KaDeWe. The team behind the legendary Smashburgers brings American diner culture to the equally legendary food floor. The menu features classics like the aforementioned Smashburgers and Super Skinny Fries, but new highlights are also making their way to tables with appetizers like Buffalo Wings in brown butter with ranch dip, deviled eggs with trout caviar, and sandwiches like Tuna Melt or Chicken Salad BLT. Drinks come with a low-ABV twist, meaning less alcohol and fewer hangovers. If you’re looking for new autumn and winter staples, go a few streets over, in Mitte. From Oct 2–5, Velour Garments presents its second pop-up on Linienstraße. The designs show how craftsmanship, sustainability, and timeless style come together. From tomorrow (03.–05.10.), wine bar Sway celebrates its third birthday! Naturally, there’ll be plenty of wine, music, and cozy living-room vibes. And when a place offers Minimisu (mini tiramisu), five-euro grilled cheese, and Negronis, I don’t need much more to be convinced.

If you feel like venturing further, on Saturday (04.10.), head to Reinickendorf. Nature’s Calling is hosting a wine garden special with croquettes from Kroque Berlin, a drum concert by Oran Ray, a DJ set from Mimosa Series, and of course, their own house wine. Finally, a tip that isn’t just for this weekend but might be a good reminder not to keep putting things off: if you thought you’d missed Fujiko Nakaya’s poetic fog sculpture in the sculpture garden of the Neue Nationalgalerie, rest easy. Thanks to a donation, the sculpture has been extended until the end of October and will also be on display next summer. And maybe I should correct myself here… even if you don’t make it to every single event in the city this weekend, the next one is just around the corner, and it won’t be any less diverse.
