Ice cream and spritz make the perfect summer combination if you ask me. It’s a delicious cool-down solution for sweltering afternoons. Where do you go if you want to enjoy both? The answer is Vasito — the new ice cream and aperitivo bar in Wilmersdorf. Opened in May by husband and wife duo Fabio and Natascha Hilker, this ice cream parlor and bar mélange is a dream come true for the couple as they share their passion for ice cream and Mediterranean aperitivo culture with Berliners. This quaint establishment has an assortment of ice cream flavors such as mango, dark chocolate and rhubarb, as well as aperitivo cocktails. Try out the Bergamot Spritz or Negroni Bianco, you won’t be disappointed. And for those who enjoy a boozy ice cream drink, try the Prosecco poured over sorbet — choose from flavors like orange basil or lemon. While the ice cream and cocktails are the main draw, they also serve beer soft drinks, and Italian-style coffee. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, great for people-watching while sipping a drink. Open from noon till 9 pm, it’s the perfect place for after-school ice cream runs and, of course, aperitivo hour. If you assume Vasito is only worth a visit during the summer then you’d be wrong. They plan to open year-round with themed nights during the winter. With their winning combination of ice cream and cocktails, Vasito will quickly become your new favorite hangout spot.
