A rendezvous at Alexanderplatz, Vietnamese fashion, soft serve, and solidarity tattoos. Here are CC’s Calendar tips for a weekend full of purpose and pride. Heartbeats at Alexanderplatz, how is that even possible? At Platte, the Feierabend format is entering its Pride Edition today (23.07.). Hoe Mies is hosting a FLINTA* speed-dating event — a meeting format specifically for women-loving queers, who are often less visible in Pride contexts. Expect plenty of space for conversations, jewelry by Format, and a performance by Goldie 333. Gemmed by Olive brings the sparkle, while Juliettesets the mood with Baile Funk, bass music, and Latin club sounds. Right next door, GmbH is celebrating its tenth anniversary today (23.07.) with an archive and sample sale. Anyone familiar with the Berlin label knows that since 2016, Serhat Işık and Benjamin A. Huseby have been using their collections to tell stories about migration, club culture, ecology, and identity. A look through their archive is like taking a short walk through the past decade of Berlin. A little color, a lot of solidarity: also today (23.07.), Nowhereland Tattoo Collective is joining with friends for the Solidarity Flash Day at Gretchen. More than twenty tattoo artists will be tattooing live, accompanied by Venezuelan food and drinks, merchandise donations from international artists and music. All proceeds from the evening will go towards earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela. And if you’re in the mood for something sweet, Serve + Sum are joining forces on Friday (24.07.) in Neukölln.
There, Sum‘s wines and drinks meet Serve‘s New Zealand-inspired swirls. The soft serve, made from real fruit, comes in completely new flavors. On Friday (24.07.) and Saturday (25.07.), stop by the SF1OG Archive Sale at Voo Space. Behind the name Sidewing First Floor is the small Berlin apartment where the label was originally created. Today, SF1OG stands for experimental designs, nostalgic references, and a contemporary perspective on German cultural history. The sale offers selected archive pieces, plus a complimentary drink. Next up: a new space for cultural and textile exchange. VVengeance opens its pop-up on Köpenicker Straße and, until early August (24.07.–08.08.), presents contemporary fashion by independent Vietnamese designers, initially produced in limited quantities. Alongside the collections, a program of exhibitions, DJ sets, performances, and workshops will unfold. The opening night features a live set by Lucid Trails. If you’re around the Zoo, make a beauty stopover at Breitscheidplatz. Morphe’s Cheek Thrills Roadshow is bringing new blushes and bronzers to try on-site, touch-ups by make-up artists, a summery photo backdrop, popsicles, and small games with prizes to win. And now for the weekend’s most important event: on Saturday (25.07.), Christopher Street Day will move through the city under the motto “Attitude is Hot”. The demonstration starts at midday on Leipziger Straße, continuing via Potsdamer Platz and Nollendorfplatz to the Victory Column with the final rally at Brandenburg Gate. With 85 floats and more than thirty walking groups, the parade celebrates the community’s diversity and its allies. Despite the parties and crowds, the focus remains on visibility, equality, and the people who began this fight and continue to carry it forward today. On Saturday (25.07.), Kollwitzstraße transforms into a small marketplace for good things: Superreturns to Tumpang, bringing along some favourite people and products. Alongside natural wines, alcohol-free drinks and delicacies, discover Italian vintage tableware by Mela Souvenirs, handwoven textiles by Rayas Collective and curated candles by Luce. Berlin food publications Plated Berlin and Famous For My Dinner Parties will also be part of the mix. If you want to hold on to a little more of the football summer, come cheer at the Connect Cup by Load FC. On Saturday (26.07.), six teams from agencies, football, and the creative scene will compete, chasing the ball — and, of course, creating a shared experience beyond all levels of skill. Food and drinks include sandwiches by Romeo‘s and coffee by Twogather, which will be available for spectators. After the parade comes breakfast: on Sunday (26.07.), the celebrations continue in the shade of CSD at Markthalle Neun. At the Breakfast Market, taste your way through bagels, menemen, Käsespätzle, and Argentinian alfajores. If you like, try carpet tufting with Tuft Tuft Berlin, learn more about visibility and participation, or get tattooed for a good cause. Entry is free. Next stop: Brazil. Yva Café is hosting its first Brazilian pop-up together with Balacobaco on Sunday (26.07.). Friends Lorena and Luciana from Balacobaco are bringing homemade cakes (including their beautiful Coconut Iced Cake) as well as freshly baked empanadas (both vegan and with meat). Yva will be serving coffee, Brazilian lemonade and caipirinhas throughout the day. One more thing: summer can also be enjoyed between concrete walls. The Tresor Foundation is bringing back The Quiet Space (16.07.–16.08.) to Kraftwerk Berlin. For one month, the focus is on mental recovery, mindful breaks, and collective wellbeing. Spaces where everyone can be are always a good thing.
