ADDING ARCHITECTS AND DESIGNERS’ TOUCHES TO IKEA PRODUCTS — MEET DANISH DESIGN BRAND REFORM

ADDING ARCHITECTS AND DESIGNERS’ TOUCHES TO IKEA PRODUCTS — MEET DANISH DESIGN BRAND REFORM

Buying your first kitchen is a daunting process. It involves a lot of planning and you can end up spending more than you expect. The all-important question of design is where Reform comes in. Reform works alongside the world’s most talented architects and designers, including Berlin-based Dane Sigurd Larsen, Cecilie Manz, Bjarke Ingels Group, Afteroom, Norm Architects and more. They design everything you see, including the fronts and countertops, while the nuts and bolts of the kitchens come from Ikea. Reform offers a middle ground between mass-production and costly custom design, and this shows when you visit their elegant showroom at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. Founders Michael Andersen and Jeppe Christensen cite the “simple and clean design language” of Scandinavia as their guide, and this simplicity extends to creating your Reform kitchen. Just come to their showroom with your Ikea plans or a sketch and choose from the multitude of finishes, including solid wood, stainless steel and concrete, to create a kitchen that’s truly your own. Today Reform has showrooms in Denmark, New York and Berlin, with new branches in Cologne, Hamburg and Los Angeles to follow in autumn. (Text: Benji Haughton / Photos: Reform)
