MIRKO NOWAK RECOMMENDS: BAGAGISTE

MIRKO NOWAK RECOMMENDS: BAGAGISTE

Here’s a problem everyone can relate to: going on a short trip but not having the right bag. A backpack is too small, a suitcase is too big and bulky. For years I’ve been searching for the perfect short trip bag, one that can organize my things without being too cumbersome. Ideally it would have compartments that I could quickly pack my things into, before slinging it over my shoulder and heading out the door. After beginning to think I would never find such a bag, it materialized for me this year at Trüffelschwein in Berlin, and from now on will be the bag I use for all of my short trips. Designed by Bagagiste, it sits somewhere between a backpack and suitcase. Their first collection has two different models. One is a small day bag, while “The Weekender”, equipped with laptop sleeve and clothing compartment, is the deluxe model. Besides their high functionality, the bags turn heads with their simple design — minimalistic, classic, timeless. With a bag as elegant as this, I’d have expected the designers to be in the fashion industry. But instead the two creators are an architect and a businessman. Perhaps it was their combined practical mind that led them to choose materials like robust canvas and aniline leather. It really is a perfect blend. Thank you Bagagiste, which simply means baggage handler in French.
