Planning a new kitchen can be daunting: should you go L-shape or island? What about surface tones and textures? It’s a big project – and a big investment. Here to help you navigate the endless decisions is designer and kitchen cabinet maker Mykilos of Berlin and Hamburg. For founders Daniel Klapsing and Philipp Schöpfer, the consultation and planning part of the process is key, and they and their team will work with you to create a space that’s more than just an area for preparing food, but somewhere you’ll spend time long after mealtimes are over. As for materials, how about oak wood cabinets with a marble worktop? Or matte linoleum fronts topped with chunky concrete or sleek slate? The only limit is your imagination. Once you’ve got the basics down, your designer will guide you through lighting, appliances and other finishing touches, including the must-have Quooker boiling water tap (current offer: free installation).
