MYKILOS: CONTEMPORARY HOME FURNISHINGS AND TAILOR-MADE KITCHEN CONCEPTS

MYKILOS: CONTEMPORARY HOME FURNISHINGS AND TAILOR-MADE KITCHEN CONCEPTS

With the Bauhaus centenary, it’s a great time to revisit classic designs and update them with contemporary ideas and uses. Design label Mykilos do just this, and the result is a range of perfectly thought-out pieces. Founders Daniel Klapsing and Philipp Schöpfer met during their product design studies at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, creating a range of furniture and accessories, from chairs and lamps to crystal glasses and the kitchen concepts they are known for now. In the Mykilos showrooms in Berlin and Hamburg you can see their designs in person, including the “Hang Jack” – a combined hanging lamp and power strip that works for both the home dining table and the office desk. The anodized aluminium housing is robust and can be playfully adapted to the home or workplace depending on what you plug in. The ingenuity of these designs and the high-quality materials used make Mykilos a brand we’ll be seeing in our homes and offices for a while to come.
