NELLA BELJAN RECOMMENDS: KREUZBERG-RESTAURANT LE BON

NELLA BELJAN RECOMMENDS: KREUZBERG-RESTAURANT LE BON

At Johanna Schellenberger’s coffee bar you get excellent coffee, amazing cakes, quiches and sandwiches. “Your cafe is our living room during day. Now we need a place for the evening”, her guests claimed. “At Le Bon I wanted to top this expectation” says the owner. In the former Hudson’s space, she opened her minimalistic but homey restaurant in early 2014. The menu on the chalkboard is listed only by the ingredients, which alter from time to time. “People who want to know more will ask” says the chef Luka Španjol-Šimunelić with a sly sense of humor. According to him, the concept of Le Bon is “all about the taste.” His interpretation of fine and international cuisine: citron and cream of coconut alongside salmon smoked with vanilla. Eggs Benedict and pancakes are served for breakfast, and for lunch, you may choose from sandwiches with veggies or haloumi cheese and a salad with goat cheese. The bread on the side is always oven-warm, the crust crunchy, the vinaigrette amazing. Simple but truly tasty. Bon, Le Bon! (Photos: Jennifer Endom)
