SLOW DAYS & CHERRY PIT ICE CREAM — CC’S CALENDAR GUIDE FOR SMALL MOMENTS TO PAUSE

SLOW DAYS & CHERRY PIT ICE CREAM — CC’S CALENDAR GUIDE FOR SMALL MOMENTS TO PAUSE

How do you like to unwind? With cherry pit ice cream in the sun or a Sicilian dinner? An open-air concert would likely do the trick. This week, CC’s calendar tips reveal where Berlin hides its little moments of pause. A first escape awaits you today (16.07.) with GiGi FM at Hamburger Bahnhof. The artist, DJ, and producer understands music as an extension of the body — a journey into techno, bass, and ambient sounds, combined with performance. Under the title “Sea~rène”, her deep soundscapes meet poetry and ritual-like elements in an open-air setting, with free admission. Ideas need an audience! During the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK) Rundgang from Friday to Sunday (17.–19.07.), eight locations open their doors, offering insights into art, architecture, fashion, film, and design. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover works in their natural habitat and at their freshest stage. On Friday and Saturday (17.–18.07.), the kitchen team from Aerde meets the Hamburg-based crew from Salt & Silver. A meeting of rough sea and urban vegetable garden. Under the title The Fishers and The Farmers, they create a seasonal sharing menu that features vegetables and seafood. Expect dishes such as amberjack crudo, fish head tacos, and cherry pit ice cream. Speaking of different perspectives. At Haus am Lützowplatz, Umut Azad Akkel is currently presenting The Path as part of the exhibition “Holding My Drink in the Corner”.

The journey continues with a walk-in structure that connects personal experiences from Istanbul with the mysterious perspectives of M. C. Escher. A perfect place to reflect on movement through cities, social hierarchies, and the small detours that shape urban life. For those who would rather create their own structures from clay, the Pinch Pot Club by Kleistone Studio is the place to be. Every weekend throughout summer, participants can create their own ceramic pieces without a traditional workshop format — just two hours of working with clay, a workbench, and a bit of fingertip skill. Firing and glazing happen later. Now, a little trip to Friedrichshain. On Saturday (18.07.), Feinkost Sicilia takes over Bar Ysy for the last Sicilian dinner of the summer in Berlin. Emilia Callari brings together her greatest strengths: as a creative, a cook, and a DJ. At the distinctive bar on Frankfurter Allee, she serves up beautiful plates, full glasses, and a long evening. And now for dessert. On Sunday (19.07.), Japanese Ice Cream pop-up returns to P60. Amami, dedicated to the pure and honest flavors of its ingredients, brings handmade ice cream creations such as Yuzu & Cream Cheese and Red Bean, while Deerland Tea pairs them with a curated selection of Taiwanese teas. Further south, the air smells of coconut. Running until Sunday (26.07.), Tafa Bakery‘s pop-up introduces Pani Popo to Germany for the first time — Samoan milk bread rolls baked in a caramelised coconut sauce. Completely vegan and only available while supplies last.
