The warmer season means it’s time to indulge in one of my favorite desserts: ice cream. I had my first scoops of the summer from Par Creamery, a small parlour currently serving handcrafted ice cream to go. If the design of the store is simple and minimalist, their ice cream offering is anything but plain. Since opening shop in 2018, founders Fabian Zeisler and Franziska Lang have been creating flavors inspired by baked goods and desserts: Carrot Cake and a Thanksgiving influenced Pumpkin Spice Speculoos have both been past favorites. Other scrumptious scoops include the fragrant Blueberry Lavender sorbet and the Crunchy Peanut, a smooth ice cream with crispy, caramelized nuts and chocolate bits. Many flavors are vegan, but given Fabian’s gift for creating creamy textures from his ingredients you won’t know the difference. And if you want to elevate the experience, try one of Par’s three salted caramel spreads as a topping for your gelato. True to their motto, this is ice cream par excellence!
