PIQUE–NIQUE FOR GOURMET PICNIC EVENTS — RECOMMENDED BY PHUONG ANH NGUYEN LE

PIQUE–NIQUE FOR GOURMET PICNIC EVENTS — RECOMMENDED BY PHUONG ANH NGUYEN LE

A delicious picnic enjoyed with friends out in the park is surely one of the highlights of summer. Since May 2020, chefs and friends Chelsea Turowsky (from Omiomi) and Mélanie Wehrli have developed a new event series called Pique–nique  that brings a perfectly prepared alfresco meal to a different location every time. Guests can expect a ready-made spread served in the middle of green nature, be it a Berlin park or a Brandenburg garden. The lovingly-arranged menus are newly designed for each picnic, which feature sweet finishing touches like bamboo blankets and floral decorations. At the Hasenheide event I joined we ate freshly-smoked fish, potatoes with vegan tahini mayonnaise, buckwheat urfa pita and baked cauliflower, with refreshing kombucha alongside. If you fancy alcohol, you can also opt for natural wines before enjoying the view over tasty desserts. All this is served on fabulous vintage plates personally collected by Chelsea and Melanie. An open-air feast! (Text: Phuong Anh Nguyen Le / Photos: Gabrielė Mišeikytė)
