PLANT CIRCLE — AN OASIS FOR EXOTIC PLANTS AND WORKSHOPS

PLANT CIRCLE — AN OASIS FOR EXOTIC PLANTS AND WORKSHOPS

We’ve recently been spending more time in Neukölln’s green oasis — and we’re not talking about Tempelhofer Feld, but rather a new shop in Schillerkiez which opened its doors in May 2018, just in time for the gardening and balcony season. Specializing in all things green, the concept store brings together three ventures: Ania Grzeszek’s Kaliko, Maya Sriqui’s Garden State and the eponymous online shop Plant Circle by Monika Kalinowska. The store not only offers rare species such as fishbone cacti or jewel orchids but also plant swap parties and numerous workshops (like candle making using soy wax or plant-based textile dyeing). Even those whose fingers aren’t so green will find something for them here — such as a workshop called “How not to kill your plants”, during which you’ll learn how to transform your home into a more lush oasis. And in case you needed yet another reason to visit, Plant Circle plants a tree for each plant that’s purchased, and Garden State donates a portion of the proceeds of their candles to animal shelters.
