Brandenburg is full of unfamiliar expanses and pleasant escapes for us city folk. One such destination is the Gut Kerkow estate, situated in the picturesque Uckermark. Here, in the attic of the barn, a special kind of project space, Spaced Out, will open its doors on 13.5.2018 to begin showcasing contemporary art. Here, Jochen and Christof Beutgen, together with Sabine Schmidt, the founder of PSM Gallery, have created their own personal link between the countryside and the urban cityscape. In his solo exhibition “Under Pressure: Life and Survival, Enjoying and Dying,” the painter Nathan Peter tackles the seemingly contradictory subject matter in a coherent fashion — his pared back still lifes make for a fitting first show for the space. A lively events program of a different nature will commence on 9. & 10.6.2018, when the sustainable, Naturland-certified farm will host its summer party. At Gut Kerkow, expect to fall in love with the myriad contrasts of Brandenburg, a region which holds plenty of surprises. (Text: Jennifer Prietzel / Photos: c/o Spaced Out, Nathan Peter)
