If you want help in the battle against plastic, Schöneberg shop Erbsenzählerei is your newest ally. Opened in September 2020, this packaging-free store offers basic groceries like peas, lentils and rice as well as natural cosmetics, baked goods from ufaFabrik plus regional fruit and vegetables – naturally all sans wrapping. The shop’s founder Berit is committed to fair standards: the coffee for instance comes from Berlin-based Faktura, a disability-friendly employer. The range includes sweets too, with a largely vegan selection of loose chocolates and pralines. And if you forget to bring your containers from home, you’ll also find cotton bags from Umtüten to fill up. While you’re there, be sure to try the delicious nut corners, courtesy of organic supplier Meister Küfner. Time to grab your jars and get refilling!
