BETWEEN BRAIDED BREAD, ICING & CINNAMON ROLLS: BERLIN BAKERIES FOR YOUR EASTER BRUNCH

BETWEEN BRAIDED BREAD, ICING & CINNAMON ROLLS: BERLIN BAKERIES FOR YOUR EASTER BRUNCH

When the air smells like spring again, usually Easter isn’t far off. To help you spend the day stress-free and well supplied with delicious baked goods, here are a few tips on where to pre-order your treats in time for an indulgent Easter brunch. First up: a culinary detour to Italy. Gorilla Bäckerei brings a true classic to the table with its Colomba. This dove-shaped brioche is baked to airy perfection with almonds, apricot kernels, as well as hazelnuts and cashews, rounded off with notes of orange and lemon. Whether you go for it plain or with apricot and dark chocolate is entirely up to you. Equally traditional, though decidedly more opulent, is Paska.L Choux. Their Ukrainian Paska is rich and intricate: orange zest, rum-soaked dried fruits, and chocolate meet meringue, pistachios, and delicate tea roses. Available to pre-order in two versions — either with chocolate drops or raisins. If you’re celebrating Easter the vegan way, Barcomi’s has you covered. Their almond “chick” cupcakes and cakes, filled with lemon and vanilla buttercream, come topped with tiny yellow chicks, almost too cute to eat. Zeit für Brot is, of course, another Easter staple. Known for its countless variations of cinnamon rolls, the bakery also offers classic braided yeast loaves, fine brioche pastries, and (if you prefer something less sweet) savory options. Last but not least, a pâtisserie we particularly love: Canal. Their limited-edition choux collection, inspired by the Paris-Brest format, revolves around three rings and one occasion. Pistachio runs through praline, crème, sponge, and ganache, topped with crunchy Easter eggs, while hazelnut is paired with chocolate, and raspberry meets oolong tea. The Easter holidays are the perfect moment to ease into the long-awaited Berlin spring. Best enjoyed indulgently, stress-free, and with your pre-orders placed well in advance.
