THE ART OF ENJOYING GALLERY WEEKEND: CEE CEE’S TOP PICKS

THE ART OF ENJOYING GALLERY WEEKEND: CEE CEE’S TOP PICKS

As you know, this weekend is Gallery Weekend, and in case you are overwhelmed by the number of things on offer, we’ve gathered together a selection of our best recommendations. First, wander the works of Ghada Amer at the Kewening Gallery – the Egyptian-born artist is famous for her diverse works in multiple mediums, such as liquified clay and ceramics, which explore questions of power, gender, and sexual expression. For a double dose of culture, the Bernheimer Contemporary is hosting two exhibitions called “Spielraum”, and “What Would I Die For”. The first is the solo project of Daniele Sigalot, housing his huge and iconic sculptures, whilst the second is formed of five artists, each representing contemporary societal sacrifice – from reproductions of luxury items to Gosia Warrink’s take on modern femininity with a giant, lipstick stomach. Finally, wildly popular Lodown magazine is celebrating its 100th issue – drop by their two day exhibition to see screenings, art pieces and more all curated by the magazine, alongside rare editions of back issues from the last two decades. Happy browsing! (Text: Antonia Harris / Photo: (bottom) Ghada Amer, (top) Bernheimer Contemporary)
