If you prefer your time at the hair salon to be in a more private setting, hidden from street-facing façades and passersby watching you, then Brunette is the place. Situated in a backyard at Tempelhofer Ufer, this little salon feels a little like entering a stylish apartment. If you’re early you’ll be seated at a large home-style table and can delve into a fine selection of magazines and coffee table books. You’ll be served tea and the relaxation begins as you move onto the front of a mirrored mobile cube. Henry Lemke and André Staarck, the two owners manning the scissors are truly charming. They met at Hanley’s hair salon in Mitte before daring to start their own joint venture. Lars Schneider, the third on board, created the salon’s concept and interior. Henry was my man, and I was truly pleased with the results. He took his time analyzing my hair and its needs, never tried to talk me into something, yet confidently explained the perfect solution.
