DUATO & SHECHTER AT KOMISCHE OPER: WIN AN EVENING OF BALLET

DUATO & SHECHTER AT KOMISCHE OPER: WIN AN EVENING OF BALLET

With its stunning architecture, a visit to the Komische Operis an experience in itself, yet the latest double-bill production by the Staatsballett Berlin makes it even more worthwhile. The first performance, “The Art of Not Looking Back” by acclaimed British-Israeli choreographer Hofesh Shechter, takes you on a journey fuelled with absolute physical and emotional power. Opening with Shechter’s recorded voice, he states, “My mother left me when I was two”, as the all-female cast move in incredible ways – pure expressions of despair, anger and emptiness. After a short interval, the stage is transformed into a surreal, plastic-enclosed biosphere for Nacho Duato’s (the artistic director of the Staatsballett) new choreography “Erde”. Set to an electronic composition, two dozen dancers perform this visually stunning work that condemns mankind’s destruction of the planet. Both performances, although completely different in style and purpose, push the aesthetic boundaries of what is expected of a traditional ballet through their choreography and use of technical lighting and electronic sound. Intrigued? We’ve got two tickets for the show at 19.30h on 15.11.17. Send us an email at win@ceecee.cc to enter! Winner will be notified by email on 16.10.17. Good luck!
