Thanks to Marlene Sørensen I came across this truly hidden gem tucked away in the second courtyard near Weserstrasse. I would have never expected something like this here. However now I have Eins44 in mind when guests are in town – especially when I want to impress and show them that Neukölln can be classy! The former loft has been carefully renovated leaving its industrial charm (including the sound with sky-high ceilings) in place. Completed with wooden tables sans table cloth, the menu was kept simple with only ingredients listed with a choice between three to five course dinners. To my surprise the prices were fair and the food tasted very contemporary, albeit being classic dishes. The gazpacho with strawberry aroma was refreshingly spicey, sweet, cold and delicious! My dad, who was my evening’s gourmet navigator, ordered the Argentinian steak with julienne sweet potato fries. He simply said, “perfect”. This man has tried the best steaks all over the world, so I take his word for it. The clever team let us finish with a hint of their fantastic ice cream dessert on our tongues.
