MARTIN MASCHESKI RECOMMENDS: PFÖRTNERCAFÉ

MARTIN MASCHESKI RECOMMENDS: PFÖRTNERCAFÉ

I’m sitting on a discarded public bus, looking onto industrial workshops. I see brick walls everywhere, a parking lot and an oversized entrance way. One could start to visualize a bunch of workers walking back into the building to wash engines and fix demolished rail vehicles. But that won’t happen. Instead I will meet artists, dance students or an international crowd. Most of the people here have the same destination: my favotite coffee shop. A former BVG workshop has turned into a cultural center; the little house, where the gatekeeper used to watch the incoming vehicles from, has become a relaxed place for good food. I’d love to stay here all day and try everything from their daily menu. My personal tip: order muesli for breakfast and then come back in the evening with friends for some local beer and the superb cheese platter.
