MAGNUM AT 75 — POWERFUL PHOTOJOURNALISM AT THE REINBECKHALLEN

MAGNUM AT 75 — POWERFUL PHOTOJOURNALISM AT THE REINBECKHALLEN

In 1947, New York photographers Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger and David Seymour founded what would become the world’s most legendary photo agency: Magnum Photos. For 75 years, it has been known for original reportage and documentary photography, world-famous photos and renowned photojournalists. And even though the medium of photography has evolved, the quality of the agency’s work remains the same. To mark this, over 200 imagesby 17 photographers from 11 different countries are on view at the Reinbeckhallen in Schöneweide until 27.11.2022. Among them are works by Khalik Allah, Olivia Arthur, Myriam Boulos, Sabiha Çimen, Sohrab Hura, Cristina de Middel, Rafał Milach, Emin Özmen, Lindokuhle Sobekwa, Mikhael Subotzky and Newsha Tavakolian. The exhibition is part historical retrospective, part survey of the agency and the medium. New ways of storytelling and photographic narration are explored and augmented with text, sound, film, AI and sculpture, proving the lasting relevance of both Magnum and photography itself.
