UP THE WALL IN NEUKÖLLN — CLIMBING AT BOULDERGARTEN

If you’re still searching for a sport that sticks, then we might have just the thing: Bouldergarten, the perfect climbing getaway tucked away in a quiet Neukölln Hinterhof. The large hall with its high ceilings and open floor plan across three stories allows for a variety of different styles. From short and technical bouldering routes where you can hone your ninja acrobatics to longer, more enduring lead climbs with a harness, this hall has it all. With six grade difficulties, the climbs have a lot of thought put into them and include creative and fun ascents for newcomers. To avoid the weekend bustle, Bouldergarten has an online booking system to reserve your session. In the summer, savor the outdoors with an exterior climbing section just outside the gym, complete with a terrace area to enjoy a drink or bite to eat.

The elevated gym on the third level has views of the entire space, allowing you to spectate whilst you warm up. If you didn’t get sweaty enough on the wall, you can buy a ticket for the on-site sauna or stretch out in one of the yoga classes. Bouldergarten offers lessons that cover all the basic techniques but you can also just grab your friends and have at it. The elation you feel when you summit your first route will take you from feeling like couch potato to climbing superstar. Just one thing for the days after: get ready to feel aches in places you never even knew existed!
