Drop by and rent a movie or stay a little longer – eating, reading, chatting. Inspired by a Beijing reading hall, Martin Schuffenhauer has turned the ground floor of a backyard factory building into a reading lounge! But he also moved his “Filmkunst” video store (formerly in Friedrichshain) and added a café as well. There’s a fine selection of books including lots of imports from the US, UK, Spain, France and Italy and the movie section offers an ecclectic mix. So needless to say that this place has become the new go-to place for cineasts at the tri-border region of Kreuzberg/Neukölln/Treptow. The café offers breakfast, soups and waffles which you can enjoy at the wooden tables or in cozy armchairs and couches. And the south-facing terrace is now open! On thursdays there’s a short film program; for more information on Kultursalon Roderich‘s events check their blog. Truly a great spot!
Opening hours: daily 10-24h, Tel+49.30.61628158, prices: coffee 1€, breakfast from 4,50€, rent-a-movie 1,60€/day; Kultursalon Roderich, Glogauer Str. 19, 10999 Berlin-Kreuzberg; map
