THE CEE CEE BERLIN ART WEEK GUIDE: OUR MUST-SEES OF 2017

It’s getting hard to miss the bold lilac circles dotting the city — from 13-17.9.17, the sixth Berlin Art Week will deliver us four days of exhibition openings, performances, art fairs and events. As an official Art Week partner, allow us to open our calendar and share our hit list. On Tuesday 12.9.17 from 19h, head to Fahrbereitschaft for “LA>X”, a tribute to the 50-year city partnership between Berlin and Los Angeles, an exhibition by Marc Glöde and Axel Haubrok, partnered with a film festival at Kino Arsenal. On Wednesday 13.9.17 from 18h, you’ll find us glued to the screen at the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein for the Harun Farocki retrospective, “Mit anderen Mitteln – By Other Means”, in which curators Antje Ehmann and Carles Guerra deconstruct the German director’s cinematic codes. On Thursday 14.9,17, we’re looking forward to the opening of “Sans papiers – Life is a Journey, Part 3.2” at project space Kurt-Kurt. The latest installment in this ongoing project, which explores themes of exile and refuge from personal and political perspectives, showcases an installation by Afghan artist Sara Nabil and the Berlin premiere of Nina Fischer / Maraon el Sani’s film, “Identity’s Rule of Three”. On Friday 15.9 at 19h, Berlinische Galerie’s large exhibition hall will be the place to be for the opening of “3612,54 M³ VS 0,05 M³”, in which Venetian artist Monica Bonvicini explores the dynamics of architecture, gender, sexuality and power through installations, video works and sculpture. Immerse yourself in fresh perspectives at the inaugural fair for modern and contemporary art, Art Berlin before rounding off the week at KW Institute for Contemporary Art on Sunday 17.9 at 20h with Berlin artist Nina Könnemann’s performance “Free Wifi”, which brings together a montage of live video footage in real time. Check out the full program and get ready to paint the town purple.
