It’s no secret we’re obsessed with brunch: it’s a meal we firmly believe shouldn’t be restricted to Sundays. And if you want a jammy coddled egg with a fresh croissant every day of the week, you should look no further than 44Brekkie, the Prenzlauer Berg brunch restaurant which now has a second space in Friedrichshain. We paid a visit to the original location and were greeted by friendly staff, a fresh shot of coffee and a really nice brownie served on a pastel ceramic plate. The Friedrichshain location opened on Gabriel-Max-Straße at the beginning of 2022 and, besides coffee and baked goodies, promises dishes that go beyond your typical brunch food. The chefs have given the classics a new twist: the “Egg Drops”, for example, are insanely soft brioche buns filled with scrambled egg, a secret sauce and cheddar cheese. To that you can add avocado, double bacon and garlic, salmon, or a combination of them all. Vegans, keep reading: the “Avomaniac” avocado sourdough bread is drizzled with homemade asparagus sauce and topped with fresh and flavourful greens. And if you really want to indulge, the cocktails are not to be missed either. All this is offered on a walk-in basis and you can also get the goodies to go by ordering online.
