DUJARDIN: BISTRO BAR WITH LIVE MUSIC AND MAGAZINE SELECTION

“Darauf einen Dujardin!” This famous German toast created by the brandy brand Dujardin back in the 50s was an inherent part of pubs and breweries all over the country, and is the story behind where Café Dujardin found its name. Surrounded by the leafy setting of the Panke river and in-between the obligatory Späti and the studios of Uferhallen, the café is a real oasis in wild and vibrant Wedding. Opened in July 2013 by Daniela Selig, Dujardin is a perfect synthesis of pub, café and bar; quaint and quiet in equal measure, it’s known for a reliably good beer with organic Bulette, or a coffee with excellent carrot cake. The stunning interior and a wide assortment of newspapers and magazines await you on a quiet Sunday morning, while movie buffs meet every Tuesday night for selected film screenings and a Jazz night with live music is held every second Thursday. There is good, simple food, which adds to the French bistro atmosphere, and all in all I toast to this discovery – “Darauf einen Dujardin!”(Text: Olga Schlosser / Photos: Olga Schlosser, (bottom left) Janar Siniloo)
