THE PERFECT CLOGS BY REALITY STUDIO

THE PERFECT CLOGS BY REALITY STUDIO

Svenja Specht, the designer behind Berlin-based brand Reality Studio has come up with a small shoe collection. It’s a lovely addition to her laid-back and cosmopolitan fashion items. My favorite are her clogs: one pair is made entirely of cork, and the other is made with cork and black leather. The little plateau and slim silhouette make them the sophisticated version of these must-have summer sandals. Not only are they your best friend during the summer holidays, but perfect for running around the city in style too. Available at different online shops or at Reality Studio’s own new online store! But this time around a little pop-up market called Donut Shop will be joining them, offering a wonderful range of products by local entrepreneurs: Frau Tonis’ scents, vases by Brutto Gusto, gifts from P&T, liquor by Fräulein Brösel, as well as a selection of printed matters by Do you Read me?!, Donut Shop is open to the public and offers lovely items and sources of inspiration for your everyday life. HOBBY SHOP RÜTHER — A PARADISE FOR DIY LOVERS

HOBBY SHOP RÜTHER — A PARADISE FOR DIY LOVERS

Paradise has a new name: Rüther, hobby shop Wilhelm Rüther. Birthday parties, Christmases, carnivals and anniversaries – there is literally no occasion that this shop can’t help. You can lose yourself between all the sequins, silk papers, styrofoam balls and easels. Since 1969, the family owned business has been the go-to store for anything and everything you need for designing and crafting: color papers, brushes, silk ribbons, bee’s wax, craft kits, pigments, decor-mushrooms, straw stars, candle holders, etc. When you leave the shop after your prolonged stay, you’ll be full of new treasures and ideas. This place rocks my world! (Text: Milena Kalojanov / Photos: Carlito Schilirò)

PALETAS BERLIN — HOT SUMMER’S ICY BEST FRIEND

PALETAS BERLIN — HOT SUMMER’S ICY BEST FRIEND

Yes! Summer is finally here! Is there a better summer treat than ice cold popsicles? A huge trend in the States has finally landed in Berlin. Homemade popsicles made from nothing but fresh fruits and water. Straight from Friedrichshain comes Paletas, super delicious ice pops in various combinations. We were all blown away by their intense flavors. No additives, just local fruits and vegetables. Our favorites are cucumber-lemon and yogurt-raspberry. Look out for the Paletas booth at various flea markets or check their website to see where they might pop up next. Also ask them about catering, I’m sure your guest would appreciate this special treat. Let’s hope the weather stays popsicle friendly. (Text: Sven Hausherr)

Paletas are available here.

MAIKE GOSSEN RECOMMENDS: S.W.W.S.W.

MAIKE GOSSEN RECOMMENDS: S.W.W.S.W.

Three years ago designers Sylke Rademacher and Nicole Bednarzyk set out to prove that design and sustainability can make a perfect match and started their project “schoener waers wenns schoener waer”. Their goal: to combine beauty and aesthetics with social and environmental responsibilities. The result is a concept store for sustainable products for your home. Located at Moritzplatz, you will find only hand-picked items here – cool notebooks made from recycled paper, cuddly blankets made from organic cotton, subversive paper-weapons, honey made by Berlin’s local bees, vegan natural cosmetics and kitchen accessories handcrafted at sheltered workshops. The two designers also get creative and produce their own cork stamps and postcards. You are also welcome to pop in for some coffee or to browse through the numerous books on sustainable design. They have a SWWSW online shop as well as a blog. (Photos: Jon-Sebastian Riedel)
