FROM CRANBERRY KETCHUP TO CSD — CC’S WEEKEND CALENDAR

FROM CRANBERRY KETCHUP TO CSD — CC’S WEEKEND CALENDAR

Between bagels and CSD, fashion sales and picnic performances, the city is full of places to sit, eat, watch, and take part. The bed sheet — an underrated piece of fabric. Once a childhood hiding place and Halloween costume, now a material with runway potential. Dutch label Martan turns discarded hotel linen into sculptural silhouettes. Their pieces have already made it to Cannes and the Berlinale, and now Kastanienallee. The Midsummer Sale (23.–26.07.) offers a chance to browse current looks, rare archive pieces, and one-off show creations. This Friday (25.07.), there’s another kind of fabric on display: the picnic blanket. With PicazzaUncommon and Anne Bollinger transform Studio Hanniball into an Italian marketplace, complete with sparkling drinks from Bouche, a performance by food artist Chelsea Turowsky, and a piazza-like installation you can sit and snack on. The pop-up continues through July.

Also, a good place to sit: on a terrace, ideally with wine and a bagel. This Saturday (26.07.), 8000 Vintages and Bagel Broteam up for a casual afternoon of Georgian wines and loaded bagels — no reservation required. Or stop by Horváth on Paul-Lincke-Ufer, where Fetzn is serving their signature Japanese-style schnitzel sandos: fluffy milk bread, cranberry ketchup, melted mountain cheese. For vegetarians, there’s soft-serve and white wine spritzers. And if you want to sit down for something more political, Saturday (26.07.) is CSD. The motto: Never be silent again. Marching, dancing, standing up for each other — if Berlin is the city of openness we claim it to be, now’s the time to show it. For a quieter vantage point, Blush Berlin invites you to the rooftop of HKW for a community brunch and open-air party with music by Natalia EscobarKenza, and more. Ice cream and cold-pressed oils from Oil You Love, brunch by Sathutu. Tickets are limited, so be quick. Looking ahead to next week? Starting Thursday (31.07.), chef Grace Donley brings her pop-up to Le Petit Royal. Having cooked at Remi, Barra, and Otto, she presents a seasonal à la carte menu where oysters meet gooseberries, pistachio flirts with morel, and fig is never far. With wines from Weinhandlung Suff. Best shared between two or three.
