CRISTINA SCHUTTMANN RECOMMENDS: AZAFRÁN AND GALATEA

CRISTINA SCHUTTMANN RECOMMENDS: AZAFRÁN AND GALATEA

Spaniards can talk for hours on end about food, wine and the different varieties found in their home country. It is engraved and intrinsic to their culture. In Neukölln, David and Guido have opened up two spaces: Azafrán and Galatea, with the intention of bringing a taste of warm Spain to Berlin. Azafrán is a gourmet store that imports directly from the source and distributes the best of Spain exclusively in Germany. Its recently opened neighbor, Galatea, is a wine and music bar with a wide selection of great Spanish wine. With every glass, you get a complementary “tapa” on the side, which can also be purchased at Azafrán. Some nights are accompanied by live music: Fridays are piano and on Saturdays anything goes… from jazz to rock to blues to flamenco. You will not find bullfighting paraphernalia on the walls nor women dressed in red flamenco dresses here, but do expect an authentic yet non-stereotypical Spanish experience.
